What is SkuFlow Inventory Systems?

Related Items >>>  About Us | Industry Interview | Testimonials | Vision

SkuFlow Inventory Systems, or SIS, is a hosted application which resides on our servers behind a firewall and SSL encrypted transmission.  Physically, the servers are locked and monitored 24 hours per day.  We believe in total customer support and unsurpassed software technical support and training.

SIS benefits companies by providing on-line real-time tracking of products, inventory, process batches, people... whatever your company does, SIS can handle.  If an employee in Taiwan moves an item from one location to the next, an employee in Seattle, Washington, knows where to locate that item - instantly.  Managers can monitor inventory levels (or batch productions) in several facilities at one time.

There is no software to buy.  SIS is remotely hosted and can be formatted for your use as needed.  If your company does not have a professional web presence, we can take care of that as well.  Utilizing HTML, JAVA, ASP, SQL2000, and Flash Animation, SIS is a flexible and powerful data processing platform.

Is new programming for SIS written in an office?

No.  SIS is developed in the field in a real environment by talking to real people.  Our programmers understand how to relate to people to figure out what is really needed in our applications.  The entire concept is tied together with a strong background in warehousing, transportation, logistics and even industrial engineering.

Programmers at your disposal

In exchange for monthly payments to use the system, we provide unsurpassed customer and technical service. In fact, we will even program for you. This means if you request a new function which we have not provided, simply drop us an email, and if it is within the business plan of SkuFlow Inventory Systems, you pay nothing for  that programming. If we deem that your need is not where we want to take the software, we will custom program the feature for you (hourly prorated programming fees  apply of $50 per hour). Please note that we have never charged a client for programming. This is simply because our philosophy is "THAT WAS A GREAT IDEA! WE'LL  ADD IT ASAP!"

Migrating to the SkuFlow Inventory System

When a customer wants to move from their current system to the SkuFlow Inventory System, we do our best to make things go as easy as possible. THERE ARE NO SETUP FEES. We will import your data so that data entry is kept to a minimum. Keep in mind that your data in your current system should be able to be exported in an electronic format either in a comma delimited file, database, or excel spreadsheet. Once we have the data, we will map it to our system. Odds are, you will end up with a much more comprehensive database by using SkuFlow.

We can import your customer information and product data into the system fairly quickly. This means that within typically 1 business day, you can do product searches  as well as customer searches.

The "obstacle" that some companies face is that in most cases, an inventory will have to be done to bring the data into the system. However, this is not always the case  and varies from company to company based on the barcode systems currently in place. During the setup phase we can actually tell you, if you have an existing barcode system, which barcodes will need to be re-inventoried into our System.

Overall, on average, it takes companies about a week to migrate to the system if they have to inventory their products again. We do our best to keep that from having to take place.

Wireless ordering

SkuFlow has a very powerful order management system. This means that from one screen, you can see what orders are finished, awaiting shipping, shipped, invoiced, or  currently in progress. Packing lists are generated in real-time and we even track who pulled what on what order and stamp it with a date and time. If there ever is a  problem with an order, you can find out who pulled a book incorrectly. Some customers choose to place orders from the field using palm pilots or digital phones using wireless Internet such as T-Mobile or Sprint. This allows sales reps to login to the system, place cell phone orders during their sales appointments and the warehouse can begin pulling the orders.

How does SkuFlow work?

There is nothing to download or install.  There are no updates or upgrades to purchase.  All of these routine tasks are included in your usage fees.  SIS is a shared knowledge application.  This means that if another client contacts us and asks us to write custom code, we can write it and allow all of our clients to use the new software instantly.  In other words as our system improves, you will benefit instantly from the ideas of other companies without having to buy anything to receive that improvement.  We do, however, reserve the right to increase our license fees with a 30 day written notice for these additional features.  This increase would not be in excess of 10% at any one time and total license increases would not exceed 15% during the year.  We have been offering SIS to the public since early 1997 and have never once increased our rates for this flagship service.

At the same time, perhaps your company needs confidential or custom applications written which you do not want the rest of our clients to be able to use.  This code would be custom written for our normal hourly programming rates and only your company would have access to that application.

Using a remote application such as SIS has several benefits including

  • On-Line personalized support from 9am-5pm Monday through Friday
  • Emergency, weekend, holiday, or after-hour support
  • No further expense in a large server to run the application
  • No further expense in bridging data over multiple facilities
  • No sticker shock for a large purchase price
  • Customized Technical Support for your hardware

Will I need additional computers?

Yes and No.  It depends on your application.  We suggest using RF (Radio Frequency) palm pilots in your facility for the fastest application experience.  If you have a small operation, perhaps you only need to use desktop computers or maybe a laptop.  These only require an Internet connection.  For your sales employees in the field, we suggest using wireless Internet capable palm pilots or laptops to promote the best customer service for your end customers.  All of your RF palm pilots, access points, chargers, and other equipment can be installed and configured for you.  This will be included in the customized estimate which you receive from SIS.
